Changi Airport Detention Pond

The detention pond is located within Singapore Changi Airport.

It serves as an important flood control measure by slowing down water flow and holding it back for a short period of time. It is used to reduce peak runoff rates from storms and settle stormwater particles. This minimises the risk of flooding. The pond is also designed to be separate from local groundwater supplies to prevent movement of dissolved pollutants from surface water to groundwater sources.
